An Historic Bella Coola Valley Lodge Reborn
Bella Coola Mountain Lodge was formerly Coast Mountain Lodge, one of the oldest homesteads in the Bella Coola valley. Built in 1896, the original lodge dates back to the historic times when Norwegian Colonists arrived in this remote coastal valley. Tourists looking for alternatives accommodations to motels or hotels on their Canadian holiday vacation will be sure to enjoy our lodge.

Dining at Bella Coola Mountain Lodge
Summer 2012 we will be introducing fine dining and exquisite meals in the evenings and ready-to-go picnic lunches for guests to take on their daytime adventures.Meals will be served on a flexible schedules and reserved bookings (2-4 hrs) are required. Menu items will change seasonally and our chefs will highlight the regional culinary offerings, enhanced with local organic vegetables, fruits and herbs from our lodge garden.

Grizzly bear viewing tours in British Columbia are among the most popular wilderness activities we offer at Bella Coola Mountain Lodge. Our bear tours leave the lodge daily from August to October to watch grizzly bears and black bears feeding on salmon and wandering pristine coastal rivers.
Grizzly bear watching is done from comfortable river rafts and dories, to glide silently down wilderness rivers to see grizzly and black bears in a unique river-level perspective. Grizzly tours depart daily from Aug. 15 to Oct. 1, reservations required.
Guides have undergone training in biology and animal behavior and provide expert knowledge on bears and biology of the area. Come see some of the best grizzly viewing available in Canada, right here in Bella Coola BC. Guides and company owners are members of British Columbia Wilderness Tourism Association (BCWTA) and the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of BC (CBVA); two of the most prominent advocacy groups for promoting sustainable tourism.

Grizzly bears of Bella Coola Valley are very tolerant of people; however, guides want to respect these animals by following bear viewing guidelines to ensure the bears are not disturbed, and guests enjoy a wildlife holiday that they know to be truly non-threatening to the animals.Siilar principals of sustainability are used at our lodge for accommodations and meals.
